Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-09-01.

The service

Speech Relay provides a streaming speech-to-text API and a web playground. The service includes multi-talker mode and target-speaker mode.

Accounts, payment, and fees

The service is paid and billed according to audio processed. Stripe handles payment processing, and card details are provided to Stripe rather than Speech Relay. Charges are based on audio processed, prices are published on the site, and incurred fees are non-refundable. Playground sessions are free within the credit provided. The same terms and privacy policy apply to them, and nothing is owed if the playground is unavailable or changed.

Acceptable use and speaker rights

Customers are responsible for having the rights to record and submit the audio they provide to the service. Customers are also responsible for informing the people speaking in that audio, or obtaining their consent, where the law requires it.

Prohibited use

Customers must not submit unlawful content, attempt to breach or overload the service, resell or sublicense the service without permission, or use it to identify or track people without their consent.

Storage and deletion

Session storage, the retention periods described here, and the deletion controls described here are not yet available. Today no audio or transcript is stored at all.

Storage settings, retention, and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy. When session storage becomes available, users may turn storage off and delete stored sessions themselves. Billing usage records remain as described in the Privacy Policy.

Service provided as is

The service is provided as is, without a warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation or a service-level commitment. The service uses machine learning and its output is probabilistic. Transcripts may contain errors, and results vary with the audio — overlapping speech, background noise, accents and recording quality all affect what is returned. Speech Relay makes no claim about the correctness of any transcript and does not warrant that output is fit for any particular purpose. Speech Relay does not offer a data residency or region guarantee.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Speech Relay is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the service, including indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost profits, or business interruption.

Customer indemnity

Customers indemnify Speech Relay against claims arising from audio they submitted without the necessary rights or consents.

Suspension and termination

Speech Relay may suspend or end access for breach or non-payment. Customers may stop using the service at any time.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, will update the effective date, and treat continued use after a change as acceptance.

Age and contact

The service is not for anyone under 18. For questions about these terms, contact contact@speechrelay.online.
